We take a closer look at the British education system and how it fosters training, learning and preparation for students from an early age.

If there is one thing that all parents worry about when looking for a good educational alternative for their children, it is thinking about all the skills, activities and care they will receive from education professionals who will accompany them during the most important stage in terms of development and learning. In Spain we are fortunate to have numerous alternatives and schools suited to each family’s needs. More and more bilingual schools are being added to this list and are positioning themselves as one of the best options for the education of the youngest members of the household. If we are to talk about primary education in English in Alicante, we will do so from an enriching and very well-balanced curriculum. We take a closer look at the British education system and how it fosters training, learning and preparation for students from an early age.
British education for the little ones
If there is one educational system that has known how to prioritise the potential of each student and has stayed ahead of what society has demanded in order to train future professionals in every sector, it is the British system of study. This system focuses on developing educational talent from childhood, using good tools and advanced technology. Because imparting knowledge is not only about learning what is in the books, but about preparing students to be good leaders tomorrow.
The key to the success of British education rests on several pillars:
- Integrating critical and analytical thinking from the time students are young. In this way they are given the opportunity to debate, weigh up options and choose according to sound judgement in each case.
- Developing each person’s existing skills and seeing how these fit into their relationships with others or in carrying out each task. These abilities or competencies are called “soft skills”. They refer to emotional intelligence, empathy, adaptability to the environment or problem-solving skills, among other things.
In this way, students are helped not only to pass their exams and move up a year, but also to learn how to lead in the future.
In primary school, in particular, students’ autonomy is worked on daily: they are encouraged to research, to distinguish between different opinions, to think logically and rationally, and to inform themselves in order to support their point of view. In parallel, teamwork, oral presentation and debate are also encouraged.
In short, a good education, based on values suited to today’s needs and on an educational model that helps them develop as people with judgement, is the foundation of a good British education that makes them competent for the future. Because choosing a solid education that combines technology, the digital world, training in values and humanism, and good teaching methods is possible.
